I quess the babysitter of the damned moniker kinda puts these folks off a bit.

Peace demands the most heroic labor and the most difficult sacrifice. It demands greater heroism than war. It demands greater fidelity to the truth and a much more perfect purity of conscience.
Thomas Merton

Thomas Merton is one of my favorite Christian writers. The above quote is a good reason why. That doesn't have much to do with your post but I recommend him to folks who are interested in the more spriritual and peaceful aspects of Christian belief.

But on a personal note my lucky astrology mood watch says it's time for bed.

Dear Anonymous,
Your rephrasing of the explanation of religion seems to be pretty much the same as what I've said, though I'm confused by it. You've specified "God" within the definition of religion. I'm not wrong in saying that religion existed before Islam, Judaism, and Christianity. Therefore, the definition itself can't include the named "God." But for the record, I'm not out to disprove Christianity - I was hoping to draw comparisons between all religions by stepping back to spirituality. It is that that I exalt. So why the anonymity? I'd welcome the conversation over email if you would prefer.

In regards to your quote:

Man developed religion long ago to help explain spirituality

Christian's viewpoint is:

Man developed religion "an organized way of exalting God" to show their reverence for him (God).

God does not need us, we need him, he'd love to have you but can do without you and all the unbelievers. Your belief in him is not a prerequisite for his existence, nor does Christianity truthfulness depend on that...

My convictions are as follows:
-Hurting myself or others
-trying to make people believe the same things i do about spirituality(trying to find validation through the agreeance of others)
-Following others set beleifs because it is esier than getting in touch with my own...
Here's a good question for people- WHY DO YOU BELIEVE THE THINGS YOU DO???
Answers that are not acceptable are:because my parrents do.Just because. It's what a book sais. It's the truth. ...think about that.
