Childhood Memories Crushed

A friend of mine at work asked me the other day if I had played with G.I. Joe toys when I was a kid. I had, of course, and quite fondly remembered them. Unlike many small boys, I did not indulge in morbid acts of violence against said heroes. No, I had a respect for… Continue reading Childhood Memories Crushed

The Wee People of Indonesia

I was impressed to hear in a podcast (SETI) recently that a new hominid skeleton was found on an Indonesian island from 18,000 years ago. It’s another win for evolution as this new form is yet another intelligent hominid and just over 3 feet tall. By now, many skeletons have been found as well as… Continue reading The Wee People of Indonesia

How I Work

The longest amount of time spent, and time I am unable to account for, is research. Depending on the topic, I may spend a week pouring through as many references I can find on a particular subject to get a real good feel for the information. If I don’t require reference material as I write, it goes much quicker.

Welcome to Pixyland

At first it was just weird, but then I recognized people (metaphorically speaking) and all was answered. When seen alone, the Pixyland Peter Pan is peculiar at best. He looks a lot like the “Stewart” character from Mad TV. Among friends in costume, he’s much more naturalized. It’s more something you would see at DragonCon… Continue reading Welcome to Pixyland

The Apprentice: Trump vs. Vader

Looks like I’ll be watching “The Apprentice” tonight! A special Star Wars edition will be shown – I noticed in the previews that Chewbacca is sent packing…and his little pink suitcase too! Very funny, though I can’t say that I agree with Chewbacca’s release. Check out the trailer here and watch the show tonight. **UPDATE:… Continue reading The Apprentice: Trump vs. Vader

Trading Spouses: The Eclectic Edition

Is anyone watching this show?!? Tonight’s episode of Trading Spouses on the FOX Network must have been the best comedy drama on TV in a long time! I didn’t even see the whole thing, I just came in for the finale. The gist was that they put a fanatical Cathoholic woman into the home of… Continue reading Trading Spouses: The Eclectic Edition

9 Years Down, 51 to Go

Really old people celebrating a really long time together get diamonds, if I’m not mistaken. There’s some contest between the traditional and modern gift order, but I’m guessing they’re both on par there. The 60th year anniversary gift is a diamond. I noticed that the traditional goes by a more economic scale. After 15 years,… Continue reading 9 Years Down, 51 to Go

BlackBerry Cobbler

As I’ve grown up in varying parts of Georgia, one thing remained absolutely constant; blackberries. They’re in south Georgia and north Georgia. They grow vigorously regardless of what pain you can submit them to. My mom makes the best blackberry cobbler in the world. I haven’t had it in sometime now (hint, hint), but I’m… Continue reading BlackBerry Cobbler
